Why we need a book about the ServiceMix

Some facts:

  • ServiceMix is one of the most popular ESB in the industry. And it is open source.
  • there is no up-to-date, concise and practical book for the ServiceMix newcomers.
  • JBI is dead and should not be resurrected by writing books about it.
  • ServiceMix makes system integration fun. We should appreciate this (since system integration is complicated by its nature) and spread our joy.
I'm glad that I'll partially fill this gap on the market.

I'm writing a book about the ServiceMix

As some of you may already know, I'm writing a book about the ServiceMix. My publisher is Packt.

The book is a tiny one. It will fit into the Packt's Micro book series. Such Micro Books are 75 pages long on the average.

My publication will contain short, practical examples demonstrating how to effectively start with the ServiceMix and rock your integration issues.

The book covers raw ServiceMix distribution kindly served to us by the Apache team. Yes, I'm the great proponent of the FuseSource (aka RedHat) products and always encourage people to use FuseESB instead of the ServiceMix. But I believe that technical book should stay focused on the technology and be product-agnostic.

There will be almost no JBI stuff in the book. I believe that JBI should be dead already and that there is no point in promoting legacy technologies.

The book will be out Q3 2012. Stay tuned :) .
